Who wrote the Bible?
Who was the author?
In order to answer this question in regards to the Bible, we need to define the difference between WRITING the Bible and being the AUTHOR.
IN THIS POST, WE ARE GOING TO FOCUS ON HOW THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN.
The Bible we have today comes as 1 book, but it's actually the collection of 66 different books placed together.
For most of the 66 books, we know who physically wrote them, however, the Bible was not "written" the way we would write a book today. Rather, it was composed in a way that was common in early society.
In earlier stages of history, most people lacked the skills required for reading and writing. That means, when someone wanted something written down, most often, someone else had to physically do it for them while they dictated.
In this process, although someone else wrote the words, the person telling the hand what to write was credited as the author.
THIS IS WHY THE BIBLE IS SAID TO BE PENNED BY THE HANDS OF MAN, BUT INSPIRED BY THE HEART OF GOD.
The inspiration people received for writing the Bible came in many different forms. On some occasions God instructed them to write something specific, other times, He had events He wanted them to remember. There's also over 3800 accounts in the Old Testament where God spoke to people through words, dreams, visions, and talked to them about the future. The New Testament contains a lot of first hand accounts of events that took place. And, on one particular occasion, the Bible says God wrote a portion without help from anyone.
REGARDLESS OF HOW THE BIBLE WAS BEING WRITTEN, THE MAIN POINT IS THIS, THE WHO BEHIND THE WRITING ALWAYS REMAINED THE SAME.
