Waiting for a response. This is where the story now sits.
The story in the Bible, at this moment, is anxiously awaiting the decision from Adam & Eve, the first two humans on planet earth.
They have been left with a decision to make, eat from the tree they were told not to eat from, or listen to God?
God has created mankind to share in a relationship with them. His desire is for them to know Him and be known by Him. He has extended His love to his creation, and revealed His desire for them, like a man on one knee, proposing--exposing his heart and showcasing his intentions--we wait to hear the response...
AND THE ANSWER IS, "NO."
The answer is "No", because the story in the Bible tells us that Adam and Eve choose to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
THE ONE THING THEY WERE TOLD NOT TO DO!
THE ONE THING THAT WOULD BE A REJECTION OF GOD!
Almost instantly, they don't choose God. As if they didn't believe God actually had their best interest in mind. In that moment, the story is broken. In that moment, the life they had been created to experience was shattered. In that moment, their story would be fused together with someone else's.
Although we have not mentioned it previously, there was another story being written at the time of earths creation. A story about an angel named Satan or Lucifer.
Prior to his arrival at this point int he story, Satan had been an angel in heaven. While in heaven, he grew arrogant over his beauty. Pride lead him to desiring praise over God. As a result of rejection Gods will, Satan was rejected from heaven--the place he had been created to live.
The story then tells us that, here on earth, Satan finds himself in the company of Adam and Eve. Like himself, they had also been created by God to live in a specific place. But they were also different.
UNLIKE SATAN, THEY HAD BEEN CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD. THEY HAD BEEN MADE TO SHARE IN AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR CREATOR.
The reality of this must have frustrated Satan. How could they be more special than him? Determined to belittle the ones God loved, Satan deceived Adam and Eve into eating from the tree. In that moment, their stories were fused together.
From this moment on Satan, Sin, & Death enter the narrative. Three things that were never part of Gods original design. These three things will prove to be unstoppable forces in the lives of all mankind; impacting and influencing every aspect of our story from here on out.
ADAM AND EVE HAD TURNED THEIR BACKS ON GOD.
This is where we pause the story. Gods love has been rejected. Satan is on the move. Adam and Eve are confused. And God's about to respond...
